You know how it is.
You imagine a pristine home. But once you add kids to the mix, they, along with all their toys, take over your entire living space!
So, we decided to take our space back!
KARA: I’m sure you can relate. Our main floor is the most occupied area of our home.
Hi-chair, kid table, toys, blocks, and puzzle pieces everywhere! After firmly deciding to reclaim our space, our imaginations began to run wild. What started out as a DIY toy storage bench turned into, “oh let’s add a textured accent wall,” and then “Babe that looks good, let’s try wainscoting paneling around the dining room,” which led to “I bet we could build our porch furniture.”
KYLE: I love a good mechanical, electrical, or structural challenge.
So during the stresses of the pandemic, and the loss of an income, I found my joy and peace in the challenges of our 1930's home. As we worked together on projects around the home, my wife recognized my natural talent and the knack I have to research, study, and execute a build.
I've always been a pretty "handy" guy…
In a way, this business is my love letter to Kyle.
KARA: Michelle Obama wrote the most beautiful, insightful, and thoughtful description of her husband in her book, Becoming.
The way it was written you knew she had studied her husband – his actions and reactions, what made him tick, etc. It inspired me and made me want to be able to do the same. And while I am his trusty sidekick, cutting wood, filling in nail holes, sanding, staining, and painting, I’m really taking it all in – admiring a great man. My love.
K.Curry Craftsman is truly a labor of love.
Everything we do is family focused. Read our bios to see what we mean!

What’s up everyone. While working for the federal government as an IT Specialist for the past 13 years has afforded my family stability and security, my true passion is working with my hands. In a world full of things to fix, I’m always studying how something works, fits, or functions. My wife will tell you I have that special kind of mind that thinks about how to put something back together even when it’s in perfect condition. While watching me perfect my skills with a miter saw, my wife and ultimate hype woman, thought my talent was too great to keep confined to the walls of our home. And within a short time, my skills have sharpened, and the quality of my work has been sought out by many in the DMV area. But even with all the love, what I’m most honored to be is a family man. Although I put a great deal of energy into perfecting my craftsmanship, the time and effort I put towards being a present and involved husband and father is where my heart lays. Our marriage and our kids, Cole and Austin, are our first priority. But understanding that passions don’t die, we have dreams to fulfill and spaces to upgrade! That’s why we work to help families just like you steal back your space by creating custom, high-end finishes and pieces that can energize any uninspired space… with the kids in tow.

Kara Curry
Hey family! So my story goes a little something like this. I temporarily left the workforce to devote my time to my children as a result of the pandemic. As a registered nurse working at the bedside in the hospital for nearly a decade, it was not a decision that was easy to make. However, that decision has allowed me to put more focus on my family and an educational pursuit and career shift that was already underway. It was also the catalyst to the birth of K.Curry Craftsman. Forever a lover of education, I am now a graduate student pursuing my Masters in Bioethics, working toward becoming a clinical ethicist. I am also a proud member of the American Nurses Associations Center for Ethics and Human Rights Advisory Board. Along with cutting wood, filling in nail holes, sanding, staining, and painting while wrangling children and doing my best to keep a clean home for my family, I am the voice of K.Curry Craftsman, creating content and corresponding with clients from inquiry to project completion. I take pride in ALL of my roles as a wife, mother, helper and project manager and am delighted to add this labor of love to my endeavors.

Cole & Austin Curry
Hi website people!!! It’s Co-Cole and Aussie!! As two Curry Craftsman in the making, we are constantly on the sidelines watching our mom and dad while sometimes getting in the mix. We are looking forward to the day when we can be right by our Daddy’s side in the shop or onsite. We may grow to love this work, or we may not. Either way, we will gain valuable practical skills, learn how to problem solve, and see what work ethic, dedication and commitment look like. Nice to meet you!! Bye bye!
